Whammy Coffee is a locally owned specialty coffee shop located at 1143 1st Ave S, Suite 103, in the historic Denham Building in Birmingham’s Parkside District. Founded by Mitch and Maddie McEver, the business began as a pop-up and e-commerce venture — sourcing green coffee from Cafe Imports and making appearances at local spots like Pepper Place — before opening its first permanent brick-and-mortar café in March 2025. Whammy serves a globally sourced coffee menu featuring beans from Costa Rica, Mexico, and Ethiopia, alongside signature drinks, rotating seasonal offerings, and fresh in-house baked goods, all within a community-focused space designed for friends, remote workers, and coffee enthusiasts alike.
