The Coffee Shoppe

The Coffee Shoppe is a Black-owned, women-owned specialty coffee shop located at 308 Broad Street in the heart of downtown Selma, Alabama, founded by Jacqueline T. Smith in November 2011. The shop serves lattes, smoothies, specialty teas, paninis, and more, and has grown from a local community hub into a nationally recognized staple — earning the 2019 Gold Alabama Retailer of the Year award. Smith is a committed local advocate, sourcing supplies from Selma-based vendors and partnering with local tour companies to connect visitors with the city’s rich civil rights history near the Edmund Pettus Bridge.
