About

Café Cino is a Black-owned, husband-and-wife boutique specialty coffee and tea concept founded by Ron Collins and Carolina Meurkens, who first launched as a pop-up inside PLNTR, a local plant store in Dupont Circle (1825 18th St NW), in November 2022 before building a loyal following. The café is named after the couple’s first child and is known for its pour-over program featuring single-origin beans from local roasters and family-run farms in Colombia and Brazil, alongside a curated selection of loose-leaf teas. As artists and musicians themselves, the owners emphasize community connection by hosting live music, coffee tastings, book swaps, and DJ sets, with a first standalone brick-and-mortar location planned for DC’s Bridge District.
