The Reading Room

The Reading Room is a women-owned coffee shop, wine bar, and community gathering space located at 429 Church Street in downtown Decatur, Georgia, opened in 2023 by local partners Kristin Radcliffe and Mary Tveit in the former Java Monkey space. The bohemian-inspired café serves responsibly sourced coffee, natural wines from women winemakers worldwide, craft cocktails, pastries from St. Germain Bakery, charcuterie, and weekend brunch, with an interior design that draws on global influences centered around a bookish, bibliophile theme. True to its name and its founders’ mission of promoting women and celebrating community, The Reading Room regularly hosts events such as comedy nights, R&B brunches, game nights, and women-in-business panels, making it a vibrant cultural hub in the heart of Decatur.
