Milli by Metric

Milli by Metric is an all-day café, bakery, and wine bar located at 3110 N. Kedzie Avenue in Chicago’s Avondale neighborhood, opened in September 2025 as the latest evolution of Metric Coffee, which was founded by Xavier Alexander and Darko Arandjelovic in 2012. The duo spent three years converting a 12,000-square-foot former antique warehouse into a café, roastery, coffee lab, and kitchen — a project built largely by hand without outside investors. The space reflects a strong commitment to craft and community, sourcing coffee directly from small-scale growers, using locally milled flour, and offering handmade pastries alongside a growing wine program, with plans to expand into evening dining and coffee education.
