The Brewed

The Brewed is a horror-themed coffee shop located at 2843 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Chicago’s Avondale neighborhood, opened in 2022 by co-owners Nick Mayor and Jen Lemasters — the team behind the adjacent record store, Bric-a-Brac Records. Its name is a nod to David Cronenberg’s 1979 cult classic *The Brood*, and the shop is filled with horror posters, figurines, and collectibles, while serving locally sourced coffee, artisanal pastries, vegan donuts, and horror-inspired specialty drinks. The Brewed is deeply rooted in Chicago’s vibrant horror community and works closely with neighborhood organizations to serve as a welcoming third space for both horror enthusiasts and everyday coffee lovers alike.
