City Roots Coffee Bar

City Roots Coffee Bar is a neighborhood coffee roaster and café founded by Matt Saurage — chairman of Baton Rouge-based Community Coffee Company — specializing in small-batch roasting and handcrafted beverages including lattes, nitro cold brew, sparkling teas, and ice cream-based drinks. The flagship location is situated at 1509 Government Street inside the Electric Depot, a historic former power plant redeveloped into a mixed-use community hub in Baton Rouge’s Mid City neighborhood, with a second location at II City Plaza in downtown Baton Rouge, opened in partnership with Les Amis Bake Shoppe in March 2026. Beyond coffee, City Roots serves café-style food, beer, wine, and spirits, and hosts free weekly coffee tastings open to the public, reflecting its commitment to education and community connection.
