Tern Coffee & Tea

Tern Coffee & Tea is a family-owned micro-roastery and tasting bar located at 141A Maine Street in downtown Brunswick, Maine, founded by husband-and-wife team Heidi and Chris Townsend, who bring over 18 years of combined coffee industry experience from roasteries and cafes across the country. Originally operated out of their home in Jefferson beginning in 2023, the business expanded to its Brunswick storefront in 2025, offering directly sourced single-origin coffees and fine teas from small family farms in regions including Mexico, El Salvador, Ethiopia, and Indonesia, all roasted using an electric infrared roaster and packaged with sustainability in mind. Community education is central to Tern’s mission, with the tasting bar serving as a gathering space for coffee cuppings, direct farmer storytelling, and hands-on engagement with the Brunswick community.
