Proteus Brews is the coffee shop component of Proteus Bicycles, a woman-owned bike and outdoor gear shop located at 9827 Rhode Island Ave in College Park, MD. The café serves small-batch espresso drinks, pour-over coffee, teas, pastries, and snacks — sourcing baked goods from local Maryland bakeries and beans from Open Seas Coffee in Stevensville, MD. Proteus Bicycles has earned multiple regional accolades, including Hyattsville Wire’s Best of Route 1 Best Bike Shop (2018, 2019, 2020) and the Washington Area Bicyclists Association’s Bicyclists Choice Award for Best Bike Shop (2016, 2017).
