Sepia Coffee
About
Founded in 2021 by Martell Mason — a Highland Park native with a background in International Affairs and Sustainable Development — Sepia Coffee (formally Sepia Coffee Project LLC) is a Black-led specialty coffee roastery and café located at 2831 East Grand Blvd in Detroit’s North End neighborhood, with a roastery in the adjacent enclave of Highland Park. The business sources specialty-grade beans from smallholder farmers across Africa, the Americas, and the Indian-Pacific region, and serves wholesale accounts at over 30 locations across Southeast Michigan. Deeply committed to equity and community, Sepia participates in the Black Producer Program to support Black coffee farmers in Brazil and has partnered with organizations like the Ruth Ellis Center to make quality coffee more accessible to underserved communities throughout Metro-Detroit.
