SunBean Coffee

SunBean Coffee is a Black-owned neighborhood coffee shop located at 4553 34th Ave. S in the Standish-Ericsson neighborhood of South Minneapolis, founded by Fred and Annie DuBose after Fred spent more than 20 years working in youth development. The shop opened its brick-and-mortar location in 2023 and is known for its specialty espresso drinks, signature SunBar featuring light therapy lamps, and a welcoming atmosphere rooted in mental health awareness, community connection, and equity. SunBean donates a portion of its profits to organizations supporting BIPOC mental health, actively hires individuals with barriers to employment, and serves as a community hub for neighbors seeking warmth, belonging, and support.
