787 Coffee is a Latinx and LGBTQ-owned specialty coffee brand founded in 2014, rooted in a farm-to-cup philosophy with beans grown, processed, and roasted at their own farm, Hacienda Iluminada, in Maricao, Puerto Rico. After Hurricane Maria forced the closure of their original locations in 2017, the company rebuilt and reopened in 2019, with its flagship New York City location at 131 E. 7th Street in the East Village, and has since expanded to multiple NYC neighborhoods as well as New Jersey, Texas, and Mexico City. Known for its community-driven ethos, 787 Coffee prioritizes fair wages for its farmers and celebrates Puerto Rican culture through its vibrant café spaces, locally inspired menu offerings, and a commitment to human connection over corporate coffee culture.
