787 Coffee
About
Founded in 2014 by CEO Brandon Peña, 787 Coffee is a Latinx and LGBTQ-owned specialty coffee company rooted in Puerto Rican culture, operating multiple locations across New York City — including the East Village, Wall Street, Chelsea, West Village, Upper East Side, and Sutton Place — as well as in Puerto Rico, New Jersey, Texas, and Mexico. The company grows, processes, and roasts its single-origin coffee at its own farm, Hacienda Iluminada in Maricao, Puerto Rico, delivering beans fresh to its cafés every two weeks for a true farm-to-cup experience. After closing its shops due to the devastation of Hurricane Maria in 2017, 787 Coffee rebuilt and reopened in 2019, and has since expanded while staying committed to fair farmer pay and a community-driven ethos.
