321 Coffee – Downtown Raleigh is a specialty coffee shop and roaster located at 615 Hillsborough St., Raleigh, NC, built on a mission of inclusive employment for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Founded in 2017 by Lindsay Wrege and Michael Evans — then freshmen Park Scholars at NC State University — the company grew from humble pop-up events into a multi-location business, with its Downtown Raleigh brick-and-mortar opening in August 2022. Today, 321 Coffee employs over 50 adults with IDD across its Raleigh-area locations, with those employees roasting the coffee, taking orders, and crafting every drink served.
