Sparky’s Craft Coffee Roasting is a family-owned small-batch coffee roastery located at 107 Division Ave S in Cavalier, North Dakota, founded by husband-and-wife team AJ and Valerie Ramirez, who launched the business in January 2020 after purchasing their first roaster and teaching themselves the craft through classes and hands-on experimentation. Named after the family’s dog Sparky, the business grew from selling at local farmers markets to renovating a dedicated roastery building in Cavalier, and has expanded into regional wholesale distribution, including placement on shelves at Hugo’s grocery locations across North Dakota and Minnesota. Known for their commitment to small-batch, naturally flavorful coffee roasted without artificial additives, Sparky’s has become a beloved local staple with a strong community presence, participating in Pride of Dakota shows and events with the Cavalier Chamber of Commerce.
