The Ember Coffeehouse

The Ember Coffeehouse is a nonprofit, volunteer-powered coffee shop located at 8 N 3rd St in the heart of downtown Grand Forks, North Dakota, connected to Freedom Church across the street. Originally established around 2013 as a late-night live music venue serving free coffee, it closed in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, then underwent a full renovation and reopened on September 16, 2023 under new management. The Ember serves quality espresso drinks in a community-focused gathering space, staffed largely by volunteers, with a share of its revenue directed to local nonprofit organizations.
