Culturehouse Coffee Co

Founded in 2014 by Mary and Stephen Protheroe out of their one-bedroom apartment, Culturehouse Coffee Co. is a specialty coffee roaster and café located at 818 Elm St. on the North Side of Youngstown, Ohio, just off the campus of Youngstown State University. The couple began by selling their freshly roasted beans at local farmers markets before opening their brick-and-mortar roastery café in 2018, where they roast single-origin beans sourced from around the world on-site and serve a focused menu of espresso drinks, pour-overs, and locally made pastries. A deeply community-rooted business, Culturehouse has become a beloved neighborhood gathering spot, serving both local residents and the YSU student body with a commitment to quality, ethical sourcing, and the spirit of Youngstown.
