Thornton Family Coffee Roasters is a family-owned specialty coffee roaster and retailer located at 12420 SW Millikan Way in Beaverton, Oregon, founded in 2017 by Paul Thornton — a Specialty Coffee Association former president, Roasters Guild founder, and Roastmaster who began his career in 1982 at Coffee Bean International in Portland. Paul is joined by his daughter Rachel and son-in-law Chris Verhaalen, who bring hands-on production experience from years of growing and roasting Kona coffee in Hawaii, together bringing over 50 years of combined specialty coffee expertise to the business. The roastery serves both wholesale and retail customers, offers a walk-up window for espresso drinks and freshly roasted beans, and employs several Thornton family members — reflecting their mission to share deep-rooted coffee knowledge with the Portland-area community.
