Michelle’s Mad Batter is a scratch-made bakery, coffee shop, and dessert destination located at 123 E 3rd Ave in Mitchell, South Dakota, owned by culinary-school-trained Chef Michelle Kalan, a Mitchell native who trained in Charleston, South Carolina before returning home to share her passion for handcrafted desserts, custom cakes, and fresh coffee with the local community. Founded after Michelle and her husband Blake relocated to Mitchell during the pandemic — with support from her family — the bakery has since earned multiple “Best of Mitchell” awards and established itself as a beloved gathering spot in the heart of the city.
