Muddy Mo’s Coffee House

Muddy Mo’s Coffee House is a cozy café located at 233 Broadway Avenue in Yankton, South Dakota’s historic Meridian District, established in spring 2021 by Katie Hunhoff, owner of South Dakota Magazine, as a community gathering place for local and nationwide readers of the beloved publication. The shop is housed in an 1885 building originally constructed by Yankton pioneer Walter Burleigh, just blocks from the Missouri River — the “Muddy Mo” from which it takes its name. In addition to serving fresh, regionally sourced coffee, breakfast, and lunch, Muddy Mo’s is an active community hub, hosting events such as poetry readings, bingo nights, cooking classes, and musical performances, while spotlighting local products from nearby South Dakota businesses.
