Kefita Coffee

Kefita Coffee is a Black women-owned Ethiopian specialty coffee house located at 2506 La Branch St. in Houston’s Midtown/Third Ward neighborhood, founded by Ruby Amare and her mother, Addis Debebe, as an extension of Ruby’s creative brand Wonderlikewander — a boutique she originally opened in 2017. Housed inside a beautifully renovated two-story home, Kefita serves Ethiopian-inspired drinks, pastries, and traditional Bunna (coffee) ceremonies, celebrating Ethiopia as the birthplace of coffee through cultural storytelling and community connection. The space doubles as a community hub, hosting events such as workshops, yoga classes, arts and crafts sessions, financial literacy workshops, pop-ups, and even weddings, making it far more than a traditional coffeehouse.
