Mocha Joe’s Roasting Co. is Vermont’s original specialty coffee roaster, established in 1991 and independently owned in downtown Brattleboro, VT. Founded by Pierre and Ellen after the Coffee Connection was sold to Starbucks in 1994, the company roasts specialty-grade coffee in small batches on a vintage 1950s Probat roaster, operating as a 100% solar-powered business. Visitors can enjoy freshly roasted coffee drinks at the café located at 82 Main Street, while the roasting operations and offices are headquartered nearby; the company also serves over 100 wholesale customers throughout the Northeast and maintains a notable Direct Trade partnership with coffee farmers in Northwest Cameroon, providing microloans, infrastructure support, and organic quality premiums to farming communities since 2009.
