Outer Dark Coffee Co. is a specialty coffee roaster and café founded by Mike Murphy, a craft beer industry veteran and co-founder of Seattle’s Holy Mountain Brewing, who launched the brand in early 2024 after relocating to Tacoma. The company’s flagship café — Tacoma’s first roaster-owned café — operates at 750 Market St. in Downtown Tacoma, offering sustainably grown, ethically sourced beans, signature blends, single-origin coffees, and locally sourced food partnerships, with online sales shipping across the U.S. Outer Dark is expanding its footprint with a dedicated production roastery planned for the Rhodes Center at 950 Broadway, and has built community ties through collaborations with local breweries such as E9 Brewing and a presence at the bi-weekly Haunted Farmers Market.
