The Black Dog Coffee Company

Founded in 2006 by Brian and his dog Bear — who began roasting and distributing fresh coffee from their garage in Summit Point, WV — The Black Dog Coffee Company has grown into a beloved regional roastery and café located at 8001 Charles Town Road in Shenandoah Junction, West Virginia. The business opened its first retail roastery and coffee shop in September 2012, and today offers fresh-roasted 100% Arabica coffee, an espresso bar, house-made bean-to-bar “Appalachian Chocolate,” and a retail shop featuring over 60 locally sourced small businesses. Coffee is roasted on-site using “Plutonius,” a historic 1931 Jabez Burns & Sons machine, and the company serves customers through its café, nationwide mail-order, wholesale distribution, and retail and brew partners across five states.
